Prime Minister delivers Christmas message of hope and kindness

OTTAWA — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is wishing Canadians a Merry Christmas while reflecting on hope and kindness during the holiday season.

In a video address, Trudeau acknowledged the challenges many Canadians have faced this year, urging people to support those who may be grieving or feeling lonely. “If you’re grieving, worried, or alone, this can be the toughest time of the year. It can be the loneliest. So let’s all check in on the people in our lives who have not had an easy time this year, and who may need us more than we know,” Trudeau said.

The holiday message comes at a turbulent time for Trudeau’s leadership. The prime minister is contemplating his political future following the surprise resignation of Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland last week. Her departure has intensified calls from within his party for Trudeau to step down as Liberal leader.
