Man serving term for second-degree murder dies after being assaulted at Agassiz prison
AGASSIZ — A 43-year-old inmate who had been serving an indeterminate prison sentence for second-degree murder has died following a serious assault over the weekend at a max-security prison in Agassiz.
According to a statement from Correctional Service Canada, Christopher Braun died on Saturday, Dec. 15 due to an assault at Kent Institution.
At the time of death, Braun had been serving an indefinite prison term since January 27, 2021. His family has been notified about his sudden death.
As is CSC policy, federal prison staff will review the circumstances and notify local police and the coroner.
