Overnight paving project reopens Highway 7 between Agassiz and Hope
HOPE — Highway 7 west of Hope has reopened to traffic following a rare overnight paving program. The highway was closed by a rock slide on November 14.
The highway contractor for the area, Emil Anderson, reported that the asphalt pavement suffered significant damage in the rockfall. However, before a full assessment and cleanup could begin, geotechnical assessments were required to ensure safe working conditions for workers along the roadway.
Over nearly two weeks, crews worked closely with staff from the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure to clear away the debris and reopen the road.
