MISSION — The City of Mission is planning to upgrade and replace aging playground equipment at Gary McDonald Park and Jack Wade Park and is inviting residents to provide feedback on proposed upgrades.

At Gary McDonald Park, located at the end of Bobcat Drive, the plan includes maintaining current playground structures while expanding the site to feature new seesaws, spinners, and rockers. Proposed improvements aim to increase climbing, swinging, and balancing options while enhancing the slides.

For Jack Wade Park, located at 8495 Veres Terrace, upgrades will include modernizing the seesaw with handlebars and backrests, improving swings while keeping the same number of seats, and adding more climbing, swinging, and balancing opportunities. The slides will also see enhancements.

The City is asking residents to review renderings of the proposed designs and share their input to ensure the upgrades meet community needs. Renderings and feedback options are available on the City of Mission’s website.

It is expected feedback and adjustments will be completed and the new equipment will be ordered by the end of the year. It’s hoped work on the playgrounds will be complete in the spring of 2025.
