Elderly male dies after being hit by a car in Abbotsford Tuesday night, the city’s 10th fatal accident this year
ABBOTSFORD — Abbotsford Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Paul Walker has confirmed that a 69-year-old man who was struck after trying to cross moving traffic on George Ferguson Way in Abbotsford Tuesday night has died.
According to an emailed statement sent to Fraser Valley Today, Sgt. Walker says Tuesday night’s incident is now a confirmed fatality. The man died in hospital today.
The accident is Abbotsford’s 10th fatal accident in 2024, of which six have involved pedestrians.
Sgt. Paul Walker of the AbbyPD says police responded to the 32900 block of George Ferguson Way Tuesday night at about 6:45 p.m. for a reported collision involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian. On arrival, first responders found a single vehicle that had struck a pedestrian on the road. The pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries, Sgt. Walker said, and was transported to hospital via air ambulance.
