CHILLIWACK — Used motor oil, household batteries, and propane tanks are just some of the items the City of Chilliwack’s annual hazardous waste disposal event will accept this weekend.

The event offers residents across the city a six-hour window on Saturday (Oct. 14) to dispose of unwanted items in an environmentally responsible manner.

“Proof of residency is required to drop off items during the event, and only hazardous waste used for residential purposes will be accepted,” the city stated in a release.

Household paint, pesticides, and other flammable liquids will not be accepted at the event.

The opportunity is open to anyone living in Chilliwack, Cultus Lake-Columbia Valley, Chilliwack River Valley, Popkum, Bridal Falls, Agassiz, District of Kent, and Harrison Hot Springs.

The event will take place at the city operations centre on Luckakuck Way, near Heritage Park.
