Rotary Club of Chilliwack set to host 40th annual week-long book sale

CHILLIWACK – A week-long book sale, now in its 40th year in Chilliwack, is set to start on the last Sunday in October.

The Rotary Club of Chilliwack’s annual sale will feature not only thousands of high-quality recycled books but also DVDs, records, comic books, and puzzles.

The event relies on community donations, and contributors still have time to drop off their no-longer-needed reading materials at the Rotary Service Building, located at 44880 Wolfe Road.

Volunteers can assist those who need books unloaded from a vehicle during the sorting period: Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Club officials say books cannot be dropped off during the sale.

The Rotary Club also does not accept encyclopedias, magazines, National Geographic, Reader’s Digest, textbooks older than 10 years, cassette tapes, or VHS tapes.

The sale begins on Oct. 27 and runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through Saturday, Nov. 2, at Chilliwack Heritage Park.

Admission is free.

Sales can be made with cash, debit, or credit card. Cheques and electronic transfers are not accepted.

U.S. cash is accepted at par.

Proceeds from the sale will benefit community scholarships, improvements to the Rotary trails, food hampers for school kids, and other projects in Chilliwack.
