CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack Fire Department crews managed to contain a shed fire on a residential property that sent columns of smoke into the air in the area of Little Mountain early Wednesday morning (Sept. 18).

Firefighters were called to the area of Yale Road and Prest Road in Chilliwack at approximately 6:23 a.m. Firefighters had the fire struck by approximately 6:46 a.m., according to scanner traffic.

Chilliwack Assistant Fire Chief Wade Meeres told Fraser Valley Today in an email Wednesday that crews responded to the Yale Road property and found a 20-feet by 10-feet shed on fire in the rear of the property. Firefighters were able to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to the home. No injuries were reported, Assistant Fire Chief Meeres said.

A picture provided by a Facebook user shows heavy smoke billowing from the area of a Yale Road home on the north side of the road. The fire did not appear to impact morning commutes as motorists were able to get through the area.
