Semi truck catches fire in Rosedale Wednesday, explosions heard nearby

CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack Fire Department crews were called to the area of Yale Road and Reeves Road in Rosedale Wednesday morning after a semi truck caught fire.

According to a dispatch recording provided to Fraser Valley Today by Chilliwack resident Julie Hiscock, Engines 1, 1-2 and 4 and Rescue 1 were paged at approximately 8:01 a.m. for the report of a semi truck on fire.

Responding crews told dispatch at approximately 8:11 a.m. the truck was fully engulfed. Minutes later, crews knocked down the fire by 8:14 a.m.

A nearby resident that briefly spoke with Fraser Valley Today at the scene of the fire said he saw smoke around 8:05 a.m. and heard a couple explosions.
