CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack Secondary School experienced a lockdown and a subsequent hold-and-secure Thursday morning (Sept. 12).

CSS Principal Danielle Wicker advised parents in an email at 10:44 a.m. Thursday that the school was locked down for an unspecified amount of time, before being placed in a hold-and-secure, at approximately 9 a.m.

The lockdown and hold-and-secure were implemented out of an abundance of caution due to a “potential situation” in the community, Wicker said. She did not elaborate on what the specifics of the situation.

No injuries were reported during either incident.

“Please know that everyone is okay,” Wicker told parents in her email. “Your students handled themselves beautifully and followed staff direction perfectly. We are very proud of our students and staff.”

Chilliwack RCMP reportedly attended the campus during the lockdown and hold-and-secure. Some parents posting online received information from their kids at CSS about RCMP officers attending.

Police have not posted anything about the incident on social media.
