Hot weekend in store for Fraser Valley residents
CHILLIWACK — Another hot summer weekend lies ahead for the Fraser Valley as a high-pressure ridge continues to dominate weather patterns in British Columbia’s southwest corner.
While not as hot as the previous weekend, conditions will be much warmer than usual. Environment Canada says the average temperature in Chilliwack and Abbotsford for July 12 is 24 C. Temperatures are forecast to be 5 C or 6 C higher through the weekend and into next week. In fact, highs are expected to return to the 30 C range by late next week.
Authorities are worried about the impact the hot weather could have on residents across the province. The BC Wildfire Service is hopeful a campfire ban will reduce the threat of fires across the province over the weekend.
