UPDATE July 12 – 4:30 a.m. — DriveBC reported the highway reopened in both directions.

BOSTON BAR — BC Highway Patrol says two people have died due to a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 1 near Boston Bar, B.C., in the Fraser Canyon north of Hope.

According to a statement from Inspector Chad Badry of the BC Highway Patrol, BCHP officers were dispatched on Thursday, July 11 at approximately 2 p.m. for the report of a collision on Hwy. 1 near Boston Bar.

On arrival, first responders determined that a collision had occurred, resulting in the death of two people.

BC Highway Patrol says it is investigating the cause of the crash and nothing has been ruled out at this time.

The highway remains closed as police gather evidence and keep the road safe for travel. Motorists are asked to comply with the instructions of any traffic control personnel at the scene.
