MISSION — Mission is instituting a city-wide fire ban effective Tuesday (Jul. 9) at noon. The ban will apply to all open burning within its boundaries until further notice.

The prohibition includes recreational fire pits but does not extend to cooking stoves, barbecues, or CSA-rated or ULC-rated portable campfire apparatuses that use gas, propane, or briquettes, provided the flame height is less than 15 centimetres and they are used on private property.

In a news release, the City warns residents the burning ban will remain in place regardless of the weather, until it is officially lifted by the City. Residents are advised that any person found in contravention of the fire ban may be liable to a fine.
