CHILLIWACK — Grant Van Egdom’s ascension through the ranks of the Rosedale Fire Hall didn’t happen overnight.

But over the past decade, Van Egdom proved himself time and time again upon joining Hall 2 in 2016. In roughly eight years, he demonstrated continued dedication and leadership, enough to be named brigade chief of Rosedale Fire Hall, Chilliwack Fire Department announced Thursday (June 20).

“With a retirement, also comes a new and exciting phase,” Chilliwack Fire Dept. wrote on social media. “Please join us in congratulating Grant Van Egdom on his appointment as the new Brigade Chief for Rosedale Hall 2!”

Van Egdom took on the new role of brigade chief after Hall 2 Brigade Chief Carey Prinse retired following an extraordinary 38-year career with the Chilliwack Fire Department.

Van Egdom took on a leadership role as health and safety captain, which prioritizes the well-being of team members. Chilliwack Fire Department said Van Egdom maintained a commitment to safety and professionalism, which laid a solid foundation for his future endeavors.

“Brigade Chief Van Egdom brings with him a deep passion and commitment to serve in his new role. Additionally, he is incorporating organizational and interpersonal relationship-building skills from his outside life to continue to move Hall 2 forward,” Chilliwack Fire Dept. said.

The department thanked his wife, Danielle, and his daughters, Taiya and Emma, for their unwavering support throughout his career.

“Brigade Chief Van Egdom, we look forward to the next chapter of leadership under your guidance,” Chilliwack Fire Dept. concluded. “Your passion, dedication, and vision will undoubtedly inspire us all. Congratulations, and here’s to the exciting journey ahead!”
