Update: Man who took eggs from Chilliwack farm without paying has returned, paid and apologized

**Update at 5:30 p.m.: The individual who allegedly took six flats of eggs from a Chilliwack farm has returned to the farm, paid in full and apologized.**

CHILLIWACK — One of the many great things about living in Chilliwack is access to locally grown, seasonal produce and locally sourced eggs from nearby farms and mom-and-pop stands throughout Chilliwack.

But when a man decided to allegedly help himself to some extra flats of eggs recently, a Chilliwack farm decided to highlight not only the blatant theft, but also the lack of available eggs for other honest paying customers.

Berry Bounty Farms, located in Rosedale, said their kids help around their farm with various chores, something they appreciate.

“We love our kids to help with farm chores,” Berry Bounty Farms wrote on Facebook. “Sometimes this means things get forgotten. A few locker doors weren’t closed.”

In this case, a few extra locker doors weren’t closed properly inside Berry Bounty’s self-serve, automated store, allowing a male to take six flats of eggs beyond the two flats he actually paid for.

The man’s image and his newer model pickup truck were previously broadcast on social media as a way to bring him to justice and perhaps deter others from considering a similar theft, given the amount of surveillance cameras that are prevalent in so many businesses nowadays.

Fortunately, as mentioned above, the individual in question who allegedly took the flats of eggs has now returned and paid for the eggs and apologized for the misdeed.
