16-year-old male arrested after setting fire aboard BC Ferries, already released
NORTH SAANICH — Sidney and North Saanich RCMP say a 16-year-old male youth has been arrested after he allegedly set a fire on board of a BC Ferries vessel earlier this week.
According to a news release from Sidney/North Saanich RCMP, Mounties on Vancouver Island were notified by BC Ferries on Tuesday, October 10, at just after 8:30 p.m., that someone had started a fire inside a BC Ferries vessel’s washroom that had been docked at the Swartz Bay Terminal.
Police boarded the vessel, arrested and escorted the youth off the vessel without further incident.
“The extent of the damage remains under investigation,” said Corporal Alex Bérubé, spokesperson for the RCMP in British Columbia.
