Hope Fire Department looking for volunteer firefighters
HOPE — It’s never a dull moment for volunteer firefighters in the Fraser Valley who are tasked with everything from responding to motor vehicle incidents to haz mat situations, extinguishing structure fires to providing medical assistance, and more.
According to a Facebook post from Fire Chief Thomas Cameron, the Hope Fire Department says it is accepting applications for volunteer firefighters. The deadline to submit an application is October 19.
Hope volunteer firefighters are asked to be compassionate, committed and fit, and be willing to commit to weekly training held Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., with a minimum attendance of 70 per cent for training and a minimum of 40 per cent of callouts on an annual basis.
Applicants should have completed grade 12 or equivalent, have a valid class 5 driver’s license with an acceptable driver’s abstract, the ability to successfully pass, and maintain, an RCMP Criminal and Vulnerable Sector Check, be legally entitled to work in Canada, and live in Hope full-time.
