CHILLIWACK — G.W. Graham standout wide receiver Braeden Macdonald has found a new postseason destination after the Simon Fraser University football team saw its program canceled by the university earlier this year.

Macdonald, a 6-foot-4, 215-pound senior wide receiver who had 39 catches for 500 yards and 5 TDs during the Grizzlies’ run to the provincial title game in 2022, has committed to play for the Valley Huskers in Chilliwack and coach Bob Reist.

G.W. Graham football Luke Acheson broke the news Wednesday (June 14) in a Facebook post.

“Another all-time Grizzly Great joins Huskers! Way to go, BMac!” Acheson wrote in his Facebook post.

Macdonald had not only been an exemplary standout on the football field, but inside the classroom as well thanks to his 3.2 grade-point average. He had been hoping to play at SFU alongside G.W. quarterback Lucas Feaver.

The Valley Huskers are a Canadian Junior Football team based in Chilliwack. The Huskers play in the eight-team B.C. Football Conference, which itself is part of the Canadian Junior Football League, and compete annually for the national title known as the Canadian Bowl.
