CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack Search and Rescue crews have been activated for a possible drowning in the Vedder River early Tuesday morning near the Hopedale parking lot south of Keith Wilson Road.

The Chilliwack Fire Department was dispatched sometime around 6:08 a.m. Tuesday to the Hopedale Road parking lot. RCMP and B.C. Emergency Health Services attended as well.

Part of the Rotary Vedder Trail had been cordoned off by a female RCMP officer to impede access as rescue personnel converged on the surrounding area.

Two units from Chilliwack Fire, including Engine 1 and Engine 4, were cleared from the scene at about 6:40 a.m.
