CHILLIWACK — Hofstede’s Country Barn on Luckakuck has come a long way since it first opened in 1997.

Today, the store attracts customers with not just a wide array of seasonal produce and diverse store products, but also comfort food like paninis, hearty sandwiches, and a variety of soups.

To mark their 26th year in operation, the deli, specialty grocery store and produce retailer will host a pancake breakfast by donation this Saturday, April 29 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Hofstede’s will enlist the help of friends at Grimm’s, Klaassen Blueberries, Anita’s Organic Mill, Fresh Point, and Summerland Sweets to help make the breakfast possible.

Donations are gladly accepted for the pancake breakfast, and all proceeds will benefit the Chilliwack-based Compassionate Neighbourhood Health Partners Society, which works to connect seniors in Chilliwack with meaningful programming like Seniors Connect Cafe.

Throughout the day Saturday, Hofstede’s will have in-store giveaways, samples, food demos, and sweet and savory Dutch treats in the afternoon. Owner Tera Procee and her friends will be making Dutch favourites including oliebollen.
