CHILLIWACK — Environment Canada is issuing a winter storm warning for the Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt, saying up to 25 centimetres of snow could fall by Saturday evening.
In an alert posted on its website, Environment Canada says a strong frontal system sliding down the coast will begin to spread moderate snow to the Coquihalla between Hope and Merritt starting Friday afternoon.
Freezing levels are expected to remain below summit level, but snowfall rates should intensify Friday evening and “persist through Saturday.”
Total snowfall accumulations of 25 centimetres are forecast by Saturday evening. Snowfall should east by Saturday night.
