Two Chilliwack students to receive scholarships following a donation from the Around the Lake Give ‘R Take Trail race

CHILLIWACK — A pair of high school students, the Chilliwack Parks Society and the Fraser Valley Mountain Biking Association are some of the big winners from October’s Around the Lake Give ‘ R Take Trail race at Cultus Lake.

The annual event raised $11 thousand dollars through donations for a total of six different local groups.

The annual trail race offers runners a challenging 30-kilometre course around Cultus Lake and generally attracts over 300 participants. There are two events over the route, a solo run and a two-person relay event.

$2 thousand dollars is being disbursed to the Chilliwack School District to fund a pair of $1 thousand student financial awards while the Fraser Valley Mountain Biking Association and the Chilliwack Park Society will each receive $3 thousand. The Vedder Mountain Motorcycle Club, the Chilliwack Outdoor Club and Chilliwack Search and Rescue will each receive $1 thousand.
