YOUR PERSPECTIVE: B.C.’s Budget is working for British Columbians
British Columbia led a strong pandemic recovery, but we know that some businesses, individuals, and families are still feeling its effects and are struggling with rising costs because of global inflation.
Our government’s priority is supporting British Columbians, and the items outlined in our new B.C. Budget for 2023, like housing, healthcare, the environment, and much more, will serve British Columbians for decades to come and will help give relief now to the people who need it most.
It’s no wonder that people want to live in our gorgeous province, and with our communities growing steadily, we know people need homes they can afford. That’s why we are continuing to tackle the housing crisis by laying the groundwork to build on our housing strategy and get people into thousands of more affordable homes, including supportive housing.
We know that it is tough to be a renter right now, and that’s why this budget adds additional funds to the BC Rent Bank, invests in more staff at the Residential Tenancy Branch to help renters solve disputes faster, and provides British Columbians who rent with a renter’s tax credit of up to $400.
