Feds invest over $1.5M in Langley, Aldergrove manufacturers affected by trade disruption
LANGLEY — Two aluminum businesses in the Fraser Valley have received a new federal investment in response to recent global trade pressures.
Ottawa has placed an additional $1.5 billion into its Regional Tariff Response Initiative, with over $10 million set aside for 12 businesses and groups across B.C.’s Lower Mainland.
“Trade disruptions are threatening the industries that drive Canada’s economy,” said Gregor Robertson, minister responsible for Pacific Economic Development Canada. “[B]y investing in B.C. businesses, we are protecting good jobs and strengthening Canada’s long-term economic resilience.”
Langley-based manufacturer Apex Aluminum Extrusions is getting $947,500 to support facility upgrades, such as new automation technology and expanded recycling and manufacturing operations, to increase productivity and bolster domestic supply chains.
