Choosing BC products is a simple way to support local farmers, producers, and communities, including those affected by wildfires. And if you don’t see BC products on the shelf, consider asking your local retailer to carry them. It’s inspiring to see how British Columbians come together in times of need, and every local purchase helps make a difference.

These purchases don’t just benefit the agriculture sector, they also help support local tourism as a whole, create jobs, and support other small and medium-size businesses in the hospitality sector.

If you are in the Okanagan or find yourself passing through in the coming weeks, check with local orchards and see if they have any u-pick opportunities or if you can buy your fruit and vegetables right from the source. Since August 7, customers at BCLIQUOR and BC Cannabis Stores have raised more than $423,000 for the Canadian Red Cross 2026 British Columbia Wildfires Appeal – funds that will help support relief and recovery efforts in communities impacted by wildfires.

Our province will continue to work with farmers and food producers across B.C. as we work to recover from this year’s fires and drought and find resilience for years to come.

Wherever you are this summer, whether at home in or visiting another part of our beautiful province, choosing to support products from Summerland, Vernon and the rest of the Okanagan is a simple way that we can be in solidarity with local businesses affected by unimaginable tragedy.
