Charges laid against 40-year-old man for allegedly groping an underage girl at Surrey park
SURREY – Police in Surrey say charges have been sworn against a 40-year-old man after a female youth told police she was sexually assaulted at a park in Surrey earlier this month.
Surrey Police Service frontline officers were dispatched to Bear Creek Park in Surrey on Sunday evening, August 9 after getting a report that a female had been groped by a male, who then fled the scene.
On Wednesday, August 12, SPS disseminated a public appeal with a picture of the suspect. A man matching the suspect description was identified and arrested later that day.
On Thursday, August 13, Crown prosecutors approved two Criminal Code charges against Jagendar Kurana, a 40-year-old man. Those charges consist of one count each of sexual assault and sexual interference.
