Man dies following shots fired at Abbotsford drug lab, home invasion
ABBOTSFORD — The Abbotsford Police Department has handed over an investigation to IHIT after a home invasion in the 7000 block of Nicholson Avenue in Abbotsford left one man dead.
According to a news release from the Abbotsford Police Department, patrol officers responded early Friday morning, February 3 at 4:11 a.m. to a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, police located one man deceased and discovered a drug lab at the residence.
Sgt. Paul Walker, media relations spokesperson, said the Abbotsford Police Major Crime Unit is in the preliminary stages of this investigation. Early indications suggest that this incident is targeted, and the public is not at risk. Additional resources are being activated to the scene to assist in the complex investigation.
The Abbotsford Police Major Crime Unit will be transitioning this investigation to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), and the IHIT Media team will provide further updates, police said.
