Rock slope stabilization work wraps up on Highway 7 near Hope

HOPE — Traffic may start flowing a little better on a section of Highway 7 again as work to boost safety in the corridor wraps up at the Odlum Bluffs, roughly three kilometres west of Hope.

The rock slope stabilization project kicked off in April this year, causing speed reductions, delays of up to 20 minutes and single-lane alternating traffic during the morning and afternoon.

As of Wednesday, August 12, British Columbia Stabilization and Geo-Rope, Ltd. has completed that work, which includes 40 cubic metres of shotcrete application, 255 metres of rockbolt installation and a three-post rockfall attenuator with primary and secondary mesh, according to a provincial project bid.

The last phase saw crews completing the remaining rock bolts, installing mesh on the new system, and finishing the required site work.
