Police issue warning after woman dies in Vancouver e-scooter crash
VANCOUVER — Police in Vancouver have issued a warning to electric scooter riders after the death of a woman who was involved in a crash earlier this month.
Vancouver police say in a statement that the crash happened on July 3 near Venables Street and Commercial Drive, when the woman riding the e-scooter collided with the side of a vehicle.
The woman was not wearing a helmet and struck her head on the ground, and police say she died in hospital on Saturday despite initially being conscious after the crash.
There has been a rash of e-scooter and e-dirt bike crashes and case of illegal operations in Metro Vancouver and across British Columbia in recent months, some resulting in serious injuries.
