1 person deceased after vehicle leaves road, strikes hydro pole in Abbotsford: AbbyPD

ABBOTSFORD – Police in Abbotsford say a passenger in a motor vehicle has died Tuesday evening after a car veered off a road and struck a hydro pole on Townshipline Road.

Abbotsford PD spokesperson Sgt. Paul Walker says police were called to the 32900 block of Townshipline Road at about 7:05 p.m. Tuesday (July 7) for the report of a motor vehicle crash.

First responders arrived on scene and located a single vehicle that had struck a hydro pole.

Two occupants had to be extricated from the vehicle by first responders, Sgt. Walker confirmed.

Emergency personnel conducted extensive life-saving efforts but the passenger was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.

Sgt. Walker says the driver was transported to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

The investigation remains in its early stages as investigators work to uncover the circumstances behind the fatal collision.

The Abbotsford Police Department is being assisted by the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) as the investigation progresses.

Townshipline Road will remain closed in both directions between Gladwin Road and Riverside Street for several hours while investigators process the scene.
