District of Hope issues statement around tree clearing outside Fraser Canyon Hospital

HOPE – The District of Hope has responded to community concerns around tree-clearing debris and other vegetative material that currently remain on the property of Fraser Canyon Hospital.

In a statement issued Monday afternoon, the district says municipal staff are actively working with the property owner, the Hope Fire Department, district bylaw enforcement, and other pertinent agencies to review available options and reduce fire risk.

“Due to archaeological requirements on the property, any work involving ground disturbance must follow the appropriate legal and regulatory process before it can proceed,” the district said. “The District takes these concerns seriously and will continue to monitor the site while working toward a safe and appropriate resolution.”

The district is reminding residents to refrain from entering the property or disturbing debris on site.
