Agassiz prison staff seize over $270,000 worth of contraband

AGASSIZ – Correctional Service Canada is extending a tip of the hat to its personnel after vigilant correctional staff at an Agassiz prison seized over $270,000 worth of contraband last week.

Correctional Service Canada says a package containing contraband and unauthorized items was seized at Mountain Institution, a medium-security federal institution in Agassiz, on Friday, June 12.

The contraband and unauthorized items consisted of a cell phone, one USB charger, tobacco, shatter (a highly potent marijuana derivative), and methamphetamine.

CSC estimates the total estimated institutional value of these seizures is $273,000.
