MISSION – Firefighters have been called to a fully involved house fire Monday morning in Mission, and fire crews from a neighbouring city have been called to assist with additional manpower.

According to a statement from Mission RCMP spokesperson Corporal Harrison Mohr, first responders are on scene in the 31700 block of Townshipline Avenue, between Clay Street and Keystone Avenue.

Corporal Mohr says Townshipline Avenue is currently closed, and gas and electric utilities are in the process of being shut off for safety.

Motorists are asked to take an alternate route.

Maple Ridge firefighters have been paged at 9 a.m. to assist Mission fire crews with additional manpower.

Firefighters radioed dispatch at 9:08 a.m. that there’s been a partial collapse of the structure.

No injuries have been reported, and BC Hydro is currently on scene.

North Fraser Fire crews in Dewdney (east of Mission) have also been asked to attend to provide additional manpower.

BC Hydro has disconnected power to the home as of 9:16 a.m.

A fire prevention officer has been asked to attend the Townshipline Avenue for an initial fire investigation.

The fire is under control as of 10 a.m., according to scanner traffic.

At 10:40 a.m., Mission firefighters radioed dispatch and asked that a specific sand and gravel company respond to the scene with an excavator to demolish the home. That company is the go-to for Mission firefighters in incidents like this where an excavator is required.
