ABBOTSFORD – A tree branch is to blame for an overnight power outage that impacted over 3,200 BC Hydro customers in Aldergrove and west Abbotsford.

According to BC Hydro’s online dashboard, the outage began at 1:40 a.m. and affected 3,266 customers.

BC Hydro spokesperson Kevin Aquino says the cause of the outage was due to a branch coming into contact with one of their power lines.

“Crews were able to restore all customers by 3:30 a.m., so the outage lasted just short of two hours,” Aquino said.

As of Tuesday morning at 9:25 a.m., there is one outage in the Chilliwack area. Approximately 201 customers south of Yarrow lost power at 6:51 a.m. this morning after a tree fell across hydro lines. Crews are on their way and should have arrived by 9 a.m.
