‘Chaotic and horrific’: Two men killed in targeted shooting north of Toronto

May 13, 2026 | 8:36 PM

VAUGHAN — Police say two men were killed and three suspects are on the loose after a targeted shooting in a suburban neighbourhood north of Toronto.

Const. Kevin Nebrija with York Regional Police says officers were called Wednesday afternoon to a home in Vaughan, where they found the men with multiple gunshot wounds sprawled in front of the home.

They were later pronounced dead.

Nebrija says three men fled in a blue SUV, and police were later called about a vehicle on fire north of where the shooting took place that he says matched the description of the suspect vehicle.

Nebrija says one of the victims lived at the home on Kaiser Drive, while the other lived in the neighbourhood, adding the pair knew each other.

He says it’s not often a double homicide takes place in broad daylight, calling it “chaotic and horrific.”

“It’s absolutely shocking to the community here,” Nebrija told reporters late Wednesday. “It’s a pretty chaotic and horrific event to happen in broad daylight, and so for those who did call it in, we can only imagine what they’re feeling right now.

“We do have victim services in place if they wish to call them for any support.”

Nebrija said police do not have suspect descriptions at this time, but ask anyone who may have seen anything or has video footage to contact York Regional Police.
