Update: Power restored for most Chilliwack residents after major outage Wednesday morning

UPDATE, 10:40 A.M.: Power has now been restored to most of the customers impacted by the outage. There are about 39 customers near Young Road and Cleveland Avenue (east of Central Elementary) still without power due to a downed tree across hydro wires.

CHILLIWACK – Over 2,800 BC Hydro customers in Chilliwack lost power Wednesday morning.

According to BC Hydro’s online dashboard, 2,887 customers lost power at 8:24 a.m. Wednesday morning due to a downed tree across hydro wires.

The affected areas include downtown Chilliwack, Fairfield Island and parts of Rosedale.

As of 9:17 a.m. Wednesday morning, there’s no expected time when power might be restored.

There are no other major power outages in Chilliwack, Abbotsford, Hope, Harrison Hot Springs or Agassiz this morning.
