Environment Canada issues warning for motorists traveling on the Coq from Hope to Merritt today

COQUIHALLA HIGHWAY – Environment Canada says motorists traveling on the Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt should expect strong winds as a vigorous trough crosses B.C.’s Southern Interior today.
In a statement, Environment Canada says strong southwesterly winds gusting to 60 to 80 km/h will develop early this afternoon.
It says driving conditions may be challenging, especially for tall vehicles and commercial trucks.
Winds will ease to moderate gusts by midnight. Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.
