Police respond to stabbing, two fires in Abbotsford

ABBOTSFORD — The Abbotsford Police Department tackled a wide range of calls over a 12-hour period Saturday.

Police responded to a stabbing that sent one person to hospital with serious injuries at Jubilee Park just before midnight. The incident is believed to be targeted.

Traffic enforcement then removed eight more impaired drivers from local roads – bringing the total to 17, including the nine from Friday night.

Three vehicles were also impounded for excessive speed, and one red Dodge had been seized for stunting.

Finally, officers assisted the Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service with a fire at the Peardonville homeless camp, as well as at a large barn fire in the 27800 block of Simpson Road at around 9 p.m. last night.

A family member on scene reported that while no one was injured, the turkey farm’s structure had completely gone.

The cause of that fire has yet to be determined.
