Arabic jazz performance journeys into Chilliwack this March

CHILLIWACK — A high-energy musical experience is swinging into the Chilliwack Cultural Centre this spring.
On March 26, frontman Ahmed Moneka is combining Iraqi and African blues and jazz traditions in “Moneka Arabic Jazz” – a life journey from Baghdad to Toronto told through an ensemble of skilled musicians.
“Moneka Arabic Jazz is a project reflecting my life and journey in art from Baghdad to Toronto,” explained Moneka.
“It showcases melody from my homeland Iraq, mixed with African groove and rhythm that I inherited from the Moneka Family. Because my journey brought me now to Toronto, Canada, I am honoured to share this heritage and traditions with local Canadian musicians.”
