3 arrested amid heavy police presence outside Chilliwack apartment complex (VIDEO)
CHILLIWACK – Details are limited at this early stage of the investigation, but an RCMP spokesperson has confirmed the arrest of three people Wednesday morning following a police incident near downtown Chilliwack.
According to a statement from Chilliwack RCMP spokesperson Corporal Carmen Kiener, police were called to Fletcher Street, just east of downtown Chilliwack, Wednesday morning for a call involving a weapon.
“I can confirm that Chilliwack RCMP officers attended a report of a weapon at that location. Three people have been arrested and there is no risk to the public. As the investigation is in its infancy I can’t confirm any other details at this time,” Cpl. Kiener told Fraser Valley Today in an email.
A downtown Chilliwack employee who witnessed the heavy police presence estimated there were at least eight police cars in the area as police responded to the 9300 block of Fletcher Street. The witness said police had been there for well over an hour. The police reportedly had their weapons out.
