10 people deceased, 25 injured after shootings at school and home in Tumbler Ridge, B.C., police say
TUMBLER RIDGE, BRITISH COLUMBIA — RCMP say there are “multiple victims” in a shooting at the Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in British Columbia’s Peace region.
According to an update at 6:01 p.m. from BC RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Vanessa Munn, six additional individuals, not including the suspect, have been located deceased inside the school. Two victims have been airlifted to hospital with serious or life‑threatening injuries. A third victim died while being transported to hospital. Approximately 25 others are being assessed and triaged at a local medical centre for non-life-threatening injuries.
As part of the ongoing investigation, police have identified a secondary location believed to be linked to the incident. At this location, police say two additional victims were located deceased inside a home. Police are conducting further searches of additional homes and properties to determine whether anyone else may be injured or otherwise connected to today’s events.
Sgt. Kris Clark confirms in a text message that there are victims in what police have called an “active shooter” situation.
