Chilliwack school board gets 2.7% boost in 2024-25 pay, but Abbotsford trustees receive over $10K more
CHILLIWACK — The Chilliwack School District’s newest financial disclosure documents reveal that its trustees received a nominal remuneration increase the past year, but Abbotsford school board members receive at least $10,000 more than their Chilliwack counterparts.
The seven-member Board of Education saw their base pay increase from $24,846.96 for the period of July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024, to $25,518.00 in 2024-25, an increase of 2.7 per cent.
According to the 2024-25 Statement of Financial Information for the period of July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025, board chair David Swankey received $27,407.22 in remuneration and $3,769.56 for expenses, for a total of $31,176.78. Board chairs are paid a little bit more for additional responsibilities.
Trustee Teri Westerby, who served as vice chair for part of the 2024-25 school year, received $26,362.27 in base compensation while registering $3,892.87 in expenses, the latter of which was the highest of all seven trustees.
