FVRD seeks flooding damage reports for provincial disaster funding

CHILLIWACK — The Fraser Valley Regional District (FVRD) continues to ask for residents’ help with reporting damage from the atmospheric river incident last month.

Private property owners who experienced localized flooding, debris flow, downed trees and other damages from the heavy flooding in December are encouraged to report those impacts to the FVRD’s Emergency Status Map by the submission deadline.

“Residents’ engagement has been instrumental in helping the FVRD have critical insight into the damage experienced across the region,” said the Regional District. “The willingness of residents to take on this task reflects the strength of shared commitment for resiliency and pride in a collective effort.”

Information submitted through the status map allows the FVRD to have the incident considered for the province’s Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA).
