UPDATE: BC Hydro now says this outage requires “a specialized crew and equipment. It’s in their queue and they’ll be on their way as soon as they can.” The new expected time of arrival is 9 a.m. Friday morning, Dec. 19.

Original story:

CROWSNEST HIGHWAY/MANNING PARK — Just over 165 BC Hydro customers southeast of Hope remain without electricity due to a mudslide or snow slide, more than 60 hours after they first lost power.

According to BC Hydro’s online dashboard, 166 customers lost power on Monday, Dec. 15 at 3:19 p.m.

The cause of the power interruption is a mud slide or snow slide, BC Hydro reported on its website.

The affected area is southeast of Sunshine Valley stretching to parts of Manning Park and into the small community of Eastgate, if BC Hydro’s outage map is indeed correct.

Crews are on their way and are expected to arrive by 11 a.m. Thursday morning (Dec. 18). Power is expected back on by 11 p.m. tonight.
