Snow expected on the Coq today

Coquihalla protocol in effect as snow expected today between Hope and Merritt

COQUIHALLA HIGHWAY — YRB Nicola, the provincial service contractor, says the Coquihalla protocol is in effect this morning between Hope and Merritt.

YRB Nicola says forecasts are calling for wide snow in its service area, with 10-15 cm at the Coquihalla Summit, 6-12 cms on the Okanagan Connector, and 5-10 cms for Hwy. 5 between Merritt and Kamloops.

There could be snow in the Fraser Canyon and on Highway 8 likewise.

Snow levels during this time will drop, with Merritt and surrounding roads likely seeing snow at some point in the day.

Please refrain from travel unless you must, and if so, be prepared for winter driving conditions,” YRB Nicola said.
