Injured rock climber rescued Sunday by Hope SAR
HOPE — Volunteers with Hope Search and Rescue say they rescued a female climber Sunday afternoon at Area 71, a rock climbing site, in Hope.
In a social media post, Hope SAR says they responded to a call at 2:58 p.m. Sunday to assist an injured climber. The call came in immediately after the injury happened.
Rescue volunteers said the injured climber and her party stayed in the area until they arrived, noting the group was well prepared carrying extra clothes and provisions.
“Accidents can happen when you least expect it, so being prepared for a worst case scenario is always your best defense,” Hope SAR wrote online. “It was a sunny day yesterday, and the area is very close to town, so it can be easy for people to let their guard down. This group wasn’t complacent and we’d like to acknowledge how smoothly the rescue went as a result.”
