Hope-area First Nation receives pickup truck donation to boost emergency response
HOPE — A former Enbridge operations pickup truck is getting a new life by strengthening emergency preparedness in the Hope area for Chawathil First Nation.
The First Nation had only one dedicated emergency response vehicle and identified the need for another to improve access to remote service roads and backcountry areas during emergencies, as well as to transport supplies and support evacuations.
“Having access to a truck allows us to better support members during emergencies and while travelling to project sites,” said Chief Aaron Pete of the Chawathil First Nation.
“It is important that we have the resources we need to do our work safely and effectively, and we’re grateful to have partners like Enbridge that are mindful of what we actually need.”
