Abbotsford family farm and winery wins gold at national wine awards
ABBOTSFORD — A third-generation, family-owned farm is taking home top honours picked fresh from the vine at this year’s National Wine Awards of Canada.
Maan Farms Estate Winery’s 2024 Raspberry Table Wine won gold at the national competition’s fruit wine category with a score of 92 points – a feat that judges referred to as a “strong showing” of the “increasing sophistication of Canadian fruit wine production” and “exceptional” fruit quality in the Fraser Valley.
“For us, this award is a celebration of fruit wine and of the Fraser Valley fruit behind it,” said Gaurav Maan, manager at Maan Farms. “We have always believed that fruit wine can be every bit as interesting, layered and memorable as grape wine, and we are proud to help show people what this category can be.”
Jawahar and Gurbachan Maan began growing strawberries, raspberries and blueberries in Abbotsford in 1977, passing the work down to their family, who then opened the winery in 2013.
