Hope firefighters tackle vehicle fire and homeless encampment fire overnight

HOPE – Firefighters in Hope quickly snuffed out two overnight fires earlier today, including one at a homeless encampment just off Highway 1.

At 3:40 a.m., seven Hope firefighters and three engines extinguished a sedan fire on Othello Road. Their actions prevented it from spreading into nearby brush.

Just over two hours later at 5:54 a.m., eight firefighters and four apparatus knocked down a 10-by-10 fire at a homeless encampment near Hwy 1 and Exit 170, stopping it from moving further into the forest.
