Mission RCMP recover stolen pickup truck from Abbotsford

The interior was already covered in mildew upon discovery. The truck has since been recovered from the creek.

A few hours after the pickup truck was called in, around 1 a.m. on August 4, police responded to the report of a 34-year-old Rosedale woman who was driving her black Nissan Kicks in the area of a train crossing near Hawkins Pickle Road when she turned onto the train tracks, getting her car stuck in the process.

The woman reportedly thought the tracks were a street. She then got out and tried to push the car off, but walked away when the train started coming and crashed into her car.

Police say the woman was showing signs of impairment and failed two breathalyzers.

“She received a 90-day driving prohibition, and her vehicle (what was left of it) was impounded for 30 days,” wrote Mission RCMP.

Mounties conducted an impaired driving road check that weekend, shortly after midnight on August 8.

A 19-year-old woman in an electric Toyota SUV drove up and gave two breath samples, both of which ended in a “Warn” reading. She received a three-day driving ban and vehicle impound.

The driver of a 1994 Chevrolet Camaro came up a few minutes later, trying to mask the smell of alcohol by chewing gum. He also failed two roadside screening tests.

The same happened with a 54-year-old driver of a blue Ford Bronco shortly after that.

Both men were issued 90-day immediate roadside prohibitions and were required to pay “thousands of dollars of administrative and impound fees” to get their licences and vehicles back.

Mission RCMP responded to a total of 367 calls for service between August 3 and August 9, according to the detachment’s latest Community Connection.
